NCFUG members presenting at BFlex, BFusion, and MAX 2010.

8/30/10 9:24 PM

I just wanted to take a minute and spotlight some of the guys from the User Group that are going to be speaking at some upcoming conferences. These guys are really sharp, and if you get the chance to attend any of their presentations I highly recommend it.

First up is Doug Smith, who is going to be presenting Building a RESTful Service Layer with ColdFusion at BFusion on September 11, 2010.
"In this session, Doug will provide a brief introduction to REST as it relates to web-enabled services, demonstrate a service currently used at daveramsey.com to support their 10M+ pageview per month site, and walk through a hands-on implementation where participants will build a RESTful service using ColdFusion 9, Mach-II v1.9, and the new REST Endpoints (created by Doug in partnership with Team Mach-II)."

The very next day Aaron West, will be presenting Creating AIR Application Updaters at BFlex.
"In this 90-minute, hands-on session Aaron West will discuss the importance of creating AIR application updaters before you release the first version of your application. You will work with Aaron to create several different flavors of AIR updaters using the AIR updater API. After this session you will know how to create your own updaters using the API including updaters that provide a custom user interface with the ability to force updates on users."

Last, but not least, comes Andy Matthews, who just found out last week that he's going to be presenting at MAX 2010 in October. His topic is Learn to Build a Desktop Application using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and Adobe AIR.
"Learn by example how to develop rich, engaging applications that run on the desktop using Adobe AIR combined with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. This session will focus on developing applications for the desktop that can read and write to the local file system, display notifications, and leverage popular JavaScript frameworks including jQuery. Code samples will be used to help guide you through the workflow of creating your first AIR application. "

Each of these promises to be a very educational session, and everyone I've talked to who's gone to either of these events in the past said they're awesome. So be sure to sign up if you can. If you can't make it, be sure to pass on this info to anyone you think may be interested.
